Sensible approach: just try your WiiM.
Worth adding that your speakers are pretty efficient - 91 dB - so unless you are filling a large space or partying very hard it'll probably be fine.
True, and thanks for the link. There are a number of calculators around. I was wondering if comparisons and explanations would be simpler if we all used the same ones. From that I wondered if ASR members could define 'better', or more useful ones.
A recent comment set me off;

The bit that caught my attention was that (paraphrasing) there are straightforward calculations that can be...
I understand fun - it's not my idea of fun, but if it makes you happy then rock on! Just know that the sound is not actually changing (at least, you really have no way of telling)
It's a hobby, we enjoy it in our own ways and that's cool
That's my view too. I'm fighting a losing (but not lost) battle to set up a 2.0 system in our living room. Anything more is pretty much out of the question. None of our friends have hifi, none of our children are interested - although they all love music. They'd laugh at the idea of more than...
For clarity, and to reinforce what others have said: the original PA5 has a fundamental design problem, approach with caution.
The replacements; PA5 II, PA7 are great.
I had a Chord Mojo - not the Mojo 2 though. It was cute, and I liked it. Replaced it with the DAC in a miniDSP Flex, which sounded exactly the same. There's no "voicing" in the Chord DACs, they are pretty good although overpriced compared to what you can get.
This is not a good forum to talk...
Hi,
If you want to compare DACs, look at the measurements.
If you want to compare whole systems (with different DACs) then take a deep breath and read up on blind-testing. TLDR: you need to match levels (electronically +/- 0.1 dB), switch between systems quickly and not be aware of which...
Cautionary tale indeed. I fully accept that most *MP Amps will be just fine.
However, as a risk averse type, I'm thinking that it's better to go with cheaper TPA325* units or splash out on Purifi/Ncx.
Am I reading too much into this?
(Don't need one now, but I expect my PA5 to die eventually)
Hi, and welcome
Have a read through some reviews and comments here, get a feel for how this place works and why you will get different advice than from other places!
There's no need to change your amplifier. Think about it, an amp cannot change the signal to add more bass (or any other...
