    How to wire 4 subs....

You can wire a pair of identical subs in series or parallel to the same amp output channel. But in parallel the low total impedance may be hard on the amplifier. Do not wire different types of subs to the same amp output channel.

Carver Raven 350 Review (Tube Amp)

An audiophile may enjoy or prefer anything in audio that they like. The problem starts when they claim high accuracy or quality for those things. It's a listener's time, money and music. There is no requirement for high accuracy. Turn the bass up, use a SET amp or other euphonic coloration...

How to measure the response of a mic?

Go to the bottom half of the Earthworks paper: How Earthworks Measures Microphones By Alex Khenkin, Director of Engineering, Earthworks How to measure microphones and the implications relating to measuring loudspeakers...

When wire DOES make a difference

    On terminal naming, several different equal labels. Terminal A = Red = '+' = High = Plus = Send Terminal B = Black = '-' =Low = Minus = Return I'm sure that there are more.

When wire DOES make a difference

Well NO. Total loop inductance will have a much larger difference than 'skin effect' at high frequencies with most speaker cables.

When wire DOES make a difference

We seem to be co-mingling different types of cables in this thread.

When wire DOES make a difference

If it is a modern interconnect system, with low output impedance and high input impedance, then No the high end will not roll off. The roll-off idea is an old using the wrong formula mistake.

    Connecting pre-amp to aux-in instead of main-in?

Note that many low budget Digital Multi-Meters (DMM) don't have a low voltage AC range.

Would I be able to hear the difference, if any?

Three questions: 1) what loudspeakers? 2) how loud? 3) what does hear the difference mean? a] a Just Noticeable Difference doing demanding A/BX testing? b] a large enough difference to justify an expense increase while listening to enjoyable music?

    Digital RCA length

With a quality 75 Ohm communications coax and well designed component output & input stages, 100 feet should be easy.

"4 Ohm vs 8 Ohm: Which is better for audio?"

Increasing the design maximum current output of an amplifier is more expensive than increasing the maximum voltage output.

    Cabling and interconnecting question

As Jim Brown often points out: With XLR connectors it's a Pin 1 problem, but with all other connectors (and cables that enter without a connector) it's a shield problem. All shields need to be attached to a metal chassis at the point the cable or connector enters the chassis. It was Neil Muncy...

    Cabling and interconnecting question

Exactly! This is a pet subject of Jim Brown, retired Audio Engineering Society, EMI/RFI committee chair. He touches on it in many of his 50 or do papers and PowerPoints: http://www.audiosystemsgroup.com/publish.htm

Upgrade AudioQuest Level-X DBS Packs For Older Sky ICs And Everest Speaker Cables

That's just another "DarqueKnight" off-the-wall review. He's a data processing prof that somehow got put in the Electrical Engineering dept. So he has access to good test equipment and he thinks that he understands electronics. He had been doing these reviews since 2007 and always finds...

Will cable impedance affect the sound of headphones?

Very true. But at audio frequencies the listed Radio Frequency Characteristic Impedance doesn't apply. You have to use the long form formula and the impedance is different at each frequency.

    Multiple devices to plug in

You can plug as many devices as you like into one wall outlet or one circuit, until the breaker trips. In fact you can plug several big power amps into one circuit, if you turn them on one at a time. But for outlet strips, I would use metal ones from name brand commercial/industrial manufactures.

Will cable impedance affect the sound of headphones?

Those are Radio Frequency Characteristic Impedance values. They only apply to signals well above 100 kilohertz.

Speaker Cables measured and compared! ( finally proof!……lol)

The tests would be more interesting if they had used a hi-fi power amp to drive the test signals thru the cable. Even more interesting if they had used a modern hi-fi DAC for the digital signals. * * * * * * * * * * * a knowledgeable HAM radio operator would laugh at the test results. Results...
