Multichannel audio on a Pi will get a whole lot easier and cheaper!

Thanks, do you mean it's harder to get a distro on them, maybe kernel rebuilds? That stuff is fine for me as I have decent Linux experience, coding is where I hit a wall.

Multichannel audio on a Pi will get a whole lot easier and cheaper!

Thanks Pavel, that's so frustrating, I can see all your investigative work, thanks for doing that, its mega helpful to the less talented tinkerers! Are there any other SBCs that have usable quad I2S and MCLK? I guess I could try to shoehorn an MCHStreamer or maybe the diyinhk XMOS multichannel...

Multichannel audio on a Pi will get a whole lot easier and cheaper!

Thanks, no idea, I'm new to all this I2S stuff but I found this: Or maybe an external crystal on a breakout board, not sure.

Multichannel audio on a Pi will get a whole lot easier and cheaper!

This is a great thread and it has made me think, I have somehow managed to find myself in the position of having two dead USB DACs, a minidsp U-DAC8 and a ifi micro iDSD, I'm fairly certain the culprit is the XMOS (the ifi works fine through SPDIF). Both the ifi and minidsp have the XMOS on a...

    Chasing Camilla(DSP) XO basics

Hi, I'm pretty new to all of this. With CDSP crossovers I feel like I'm going round in circles...are all crossovers in CDSP FIR filters? 1/ Can you just create say a "Low Pass" filter "module" and input the frequency and type and that's it, easy-peasy, if so, is that a FIR then, how is this...

Beginner DIY DSP XO speaker measurement

Amazing, thanks, I purchased six channels of amplification, TPA3255, way too powerful for the tweeters: 200WPC @ 8Ω 315WPC @ 4Ω But I picked up some 20K ALPS pots and I have a bench power supply so I can find a voltage and pot position that works for both and set them in stone. I also got...

Beginner DIY DSP XO speaker measurement

Thanks, I hadn't really thought about it. Tbh I was just thinking I would put the UMIK-1 a metre away and that would be "good enough". Reading a bit of the link, I basically want to "gate" the results?

Beginner DIY DSP XO speaker measurement

Hi, Please help, there is quite a bit of info out there on room correction but not so much on measurement during speaker "design". I'll start my journey with a "spares bin" pair of Wharfedale 9.0 speakers to simplify things. So crossovers are removed and separate amp channels for each of the...

8ch hifiberry hat dac for RPI5

Thanks! When I set the following: sudo modprobe g_audio c_chmask=3 c_srate=96000 c_ssize=4 p_chmask=3 p_srate=96000 p_ssize=4 Can I just change the above for 8 channel, if stereo is 3, I can't make any sense of what 8 is going to be? Would I need to lower the srate to keep my 8 channels...

8ch hifiberry hat dac for RPI5

Thanks. Another question, I'm new to a lot of the "measurement" stuff, is there a way to expose all eight DAC8X channels to a Windows PC? So perhaps can the USB UAC2 gadget expose them or does it max out at 2 channels? I'm asking because from the limited info I can find online it looks like...

8ch hifiberry hat dac for RPI5

Thanks @phofman @mdsimon2 So should I risk buying one for direct connection? If it turns out I can't connect the AK4137 directly to the RPi5 I2S should I get the known working "Nvarcher optical launch" board which will get me: SPDIF input > ASRC > SPDIF output? I'll probably order the...

8ch hifiberry hat dac for RPI5

Thanks, can the Nvarcher AK4137 board that I've seen recommended be connected to a RPi5 with DAC8X?

    RPi + CamillaDSP Tutorial

Thanks, these look really cool and are within my budget, I have an RPi5 with DAC8X HAT and I want to take in SPDIF that has had ASRC performed before handing it to the RPi5, so would I just add one of the nvarcher mini SA9227 I2S USB sound cards available here? Also, the AK4137 boards being...

Ear/head tracking speakers to help against off-axis problems?

Let me preface, I'm not really across the science. But the idea of tracking the listeners head(s) and physically moving the speakers with motors (up/down as well as panning) popped into my head a couple of days ago. Let's say headphones are not an option (multiple people listening) and it's a...

Sorry about the thread necro but did you figure out if you could set a timing delay in Roon to compensate for a subs DSP?

    RCA A/B remote switcher options?

Hi, Is there any kind of consensus on the "best" DIY RCA A/B switcher that measures well and can be remotely triggered? In the past I've ordered PCBs, sourced components and SMT soldered so that's not a concern. Thanks. Richard

Stick or twist - NAD M33/Linn Selekt DSM

I have a Sneaky, must be 15 years old now, it still sounds great, nice audio gear is timeless, I'll never forget the Sondek.

Stick or twist - NAD M33/Linn Selekt DSM

You've listened to your music through the Linn? If I was spending serious amounts of money I'd be doing an A/B comparison at home. Linn dealers used to have no problem with letting people do that?

Best way to setup my system

Happy New Year! I'd really appreciate this forums advice as I'm a bit overwhelmed with all this atm. Let me start by saying that my hardware budget is USD$700. My current living room setup: Sony A95K TV Sony UBP-X700 bluray NUC running Roon ROCK (doing volume levelling) Clearaudio Concept TT...
