agsin, that video is just wrong ... my rip above measured the same value as the mercury cd with same master. as usual, they near always do. therefore a consistent result with near every rip ive measured ... hundreds ... means the dr meters accuracy per a good rip is not in question.

Yet i have so many vinyl rips which you couldnt tell a difference ... and many in which sound significantly, and measurably more dynamic. U gotta b kiddin me, its always LOUD and imo sounds brutal ... tells me everything about your sonic expectations. no thanks ... the dr values of my rips...

Not aware of any ... but maybe some ultra expensive esoteric design may ... if i was building a direct drive table, the technics motor would b my choice without reservation.

Well stated, totally agree. when i ripped all my cds to hd years ago, the dr data was entered into a database. the ave dr numbers were disappointing overall, but if you separate the data by period/date, it was obvious that early cds offered exceptional dynamics, while my later period cds...

I was being specific to the technics arm ... oh well.

K ... how about this ... i consider it a good enough arm ... but ime arms with removable headshell assemblies and all its inherited variances, like the three bears ... never truly rigid, some loose, some tighter, some introduce different resonance, and perhaps the most misunderstood of all...

It won't alter anything if the turntable is a compromised affair ... otherwise its isolation characteristics r an easy measure... sigh ... maybe your tt competed against just "average" digital components ... mine competes positively against a top linn, a sony pro dac/mac, and a topping e30...

Imo, tho very important, the cart is the least important of the three.

Had a orig P2 w rb200 & rb300 arms. the orig p2 was imo 1 of the most overrated tt of all time. (the orig rega planer cdp was also vastly coloured & imo overrated, but thats another story) the orig P2 had its extremely noisy motor "isolated" by mounting belt ... brutal idea as it not only...

exactly, my 24yr old linn is still used periodically to rip used & scratched, otherwise damaged cds which EAC couldn't.

well, one could debate that by re-badging a cart ... which then is specifically setup to match their line of analog equipment ... benefits certain consumers preferring the simplicity of 1 brand setups/options.
