Pretty cool that Russia is almost completely surrounded by cases, yet only has 4 cases themselves... in the middle of the country no less.
They're definitely great at containment... of information, at least.
FWIW, a kid at my daughter's school (but not from the same class) tested positive, coming back from an Italy holiday. This is definitely getting closer to me now and more concrete...
Yes , a bunch of schools and doctors surgeries are shut in Torquay thanks to Italy and their miss handling of this , and the Tenerife issues are Italian in origin.Italy has really been stepping up its distribution vector game with visitors being infected from all over the world and then taking it back home to their respective continents.
Talk one virus to another. We need to broker a peace deal with the virus
"They're (South Korea) not testing, they're sampling people in other countries. There's a difference. They're sampling people. It's a drive-by. They give samples. Can we do that? Yeah, we can do that. But that's not effective like what we're doing. We're doing the whole thing in one stop. They're doing samples in South Korea. It's a very different thing."
This should be considered as a warning with us playing apprentice sorcerers...
We splice genes, we pollute our environment. We declare war upon micro-organisms which were the earth' first inhabitants, with a million of years leg starts and with uncanny ability to adapt. We forget that there are more of "them" than us. In our own bodies , the ratio is 10 to 1 .. We have 10 times more of microbial things in and on us than cells.. The ratio makes it nice but a simple subtraction makes it scary: We have about 10 trillions cells in our bodies ... The number of microbes inhabiting our body is 100 trillions ... 90 trillions more ... They are always there ... However much Lysol and hand sanitizers we use ... We are only beginning to understand their importance in our immune systems, in our bodies' response to microbes and illness ... in the meantime we kill indiscriminately .. anything we think are microbes must die .... We do not usually cure viral diseases : There is no cure for the common flu, a viral disease....
So the responses are the usual ... Washing hands, not touching faces, face masks and other things for a virus that seems to be airborne.. It is a virus, organisms for which we have no response except what come from our immune systems ... An immune system that we are making sure of weakening with "hand sanitizers" and other antibiotics which kills (for a short time) the microbes we need on our hands to fight the microbes that we come in contact with... Commercial interest are on the lookout and nationalism runs unchecked...
I am not sure most counties know what to do. Poorer countries will of course suffer more but we are not at a stage where we know how to counter this virus. We are hoping most people get well by themselves . just like the common cold but it doesn't seem to me, we know how to stop this corona virus spread ...
Call me very worried ...
Kha Nada should close its borders and halt air flights until the coronavirus paranoia epidemic burns itself out.
