Looks like the pogo pin is missing but had been soldered on.

Very sloppy solder job !
Can you, or do you know someone that can solder it back in place ?

The small part of the pin should point slightly outside of the enclosure so that when you mount the rear plate the small middle part touches the back plate and is pushed inwards a bit to keep some pressure on (there is a small spring inside)

Make sure the middle pin can be pushed inwards and comes back out when released.

Not good if one has to check if the pin is there.

It's embarrassing, isn't it.

Hey love the amp but switching from OFF to PRE or HPA to PRE causes my speakers to make a loud pop ? Is the amp defective ??

Does this happen every time you switch to RCA ?
So even when you have the switch to RCA out position and only momentarily switch to HP ?
Is the loudness of the 'pop' volume control dependent ? so very audible at max. volume setting and not audible with volume down ?
Does this also happens when nothing is connected to the L30 input ?

It happens every time I go from pre to hpa or hpa to pre. It doesn’t change with volume on the amp, usual listen level vs full attenuation it’s the same. With the dac powered off it behaves the exact same

channel imbalance = 0.005dB which is excellent !

Set amp to L gain.
Put music on and ensure the volume control is above '9 'o clock'
When you hear imbalance first try a mono signal. Hear if certain or all frequencies pan out of center.

Then swap L and R cable on the headphone. Does it stay the same then cable = O.K.

Then swap it back to normal and put the headphone the wrong way on you head (L on R of head) If it pans to the other side it's the headphone. If the sound pans to the left side its your hearing.

These tests should be enough to be conclusive.
I came to conclusion that
a) it is in my head
b) I put my right earcup further back because of my glasses

I'm really enjoying this little amp again. Very happy to have it back in my system. No noises when switching OFF/HPA/PRE. It seems to stabilize at 33C. There may be a little channel imbalance below 9 o'clock, which is of no concern for me. Especially considering the 3 gain settings.

My original had an occasional light pop in the head phones occasionally that went away when I touched it. I changed everything around thinking it was my setup but the noise persisted. I pulled it for the HP safety. Apos handled the replacement nicely.

My replacement showed up with the pogo grounding pin broken off. Luckily I pulled the back over a clean spot on my bench and it was found. Thanks to help from forum members that noticed it looked like it had been there, I was able to get the amp back in service.

I can't find anything that doesn't sound good on the E30, L30 and Sundara. Sometimes I think tubes may offer something extra in the mids, but giving up the tight bass control isn't worth the trade-off.

Now, if we could bi-amp head phones like a two way speaker that would be fun!

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a L30,E30 stack, but should I be worried about broken pogo pins and whatnot?

Yes you should. Actually your whole life should be governed by fear.
Or maybe just take a leap of faith and remember that on the Internet, people who complain on forums are usually the 1% with problems. The 99% others just enjoy life!

Seriously now, there's no reason to worry. Worst case scenario you'll get a refund or an exchange.
I personally have a 3rd amp to buy, and guess what it will be ?... Yes, another L30. ;)
