I'd do something on the will to ensure it goes with me when I die.

No not really, all your conclusions seem spot on.
If your tall enough to ride and handle a f800, go for it, just make sure you get a good price buying it so you can bail-out without getting hurt if you ever want to sell it.
Good Luck
Ah, a Beemer boxer, very kool bike.Ended up getting a deal on an r1200gs. Taking it on a trip to Algonquin Park in 10 days to test it out.

Picked this up a couple months ago as new old stock. Got it for about 50% msrp. Dealership was liquidating all old bikes to buy 2021's.
I actually met my riding group of people through audio meetups.

Stealthy? Heck yeah. When I was in Beijing, China in '18 I was almost run down about a million times by "stealthy" electric mini-bikes that are ubiquitous in that city and other Chinese cities.Electric bikes are certainly appealing for the stealth factor. Nothing says "I'm speeding" like a screaming sport bike approaching. However I do love the screaming symphony of thrashing metal. Their not great for retaining hearing though, the wind noise in particular is savage.
The ferry in the background looks like the one we took in 2001 between Skår and Finnsbo (near Lysekil, Swedish west coast). Our bikes had no machine though, power was limited to what the driver could supply - hence this posting is OT.Power bikes from the past is my cup of tea. This has the look but is a 2003 model. Have had it for 9 years and see little reason to replace it. Both me and the bike being oldish mean reasonable insurance in Sweden. Can otherwise be expensive.
