Poor move on behalf of Dolby. I don't think it advances their cause much against DTS while creating ill will in the eyes of consumer. Imagine a pop up that says "Dolby doesn't allow you to do that" when you select that upmix.

This has been on AVS for a while. My comment was basically that I suspect Atmos is a small niche and making it smaller seems unwise. But I am not a marketeer....

I don't understand why you would upmix an object based format. Can't it just scale to whatever layout you have?
