Do you have something similar in your countries?
Do you think that your public funds, taxes in your country should finance such an activity?
"There is an opinion that the municipal music school is the basis for the success that Swedish popular music has had worldwide through performers such as ABBA, Roxette, Robyn and others.
Others, however, claim that such bands rather arose on youth center and in their own rehearsal rooms. However, there are good opportunities for a basic music education in the music and culture schools."
BUT, as usual, there are discussions about how much money, taxes should be invested in various activities. Of course, the municipal music school is also covered by that discussion, consideration of what to invest common funds on. At the moment, unfortunately, the level of public funding is now being reduced:
"THE BUDGET PROPOSAL
The state support for the cultural school (municipal music) will be halved next year, from 200 ($20) to 100 ($10) million SEK. But the government still wants to see a national cultural school policy.
- Today's budget announcement could have been even worse, says Torgny Sandgren, secretary general of the Cultural Schools Council."

Hård kritik när stödet till kulturskolan halveras
Det statliga stödet till kulturskolan halveras nästa år, från 200 till 100 miljoner kronor. Men regeringen vill även fortsättningsvis se en nationell kulturskolepolitik.<br />– Dagens budgetbesked kunde ha varit ännu värre, säger Kulturskolerådets generalsekreterare Torgny Sandgren.
