I'm following. If Fabi wins, I think he beats Ding in the championship.

I was thinking it was political, a subject I totally avoid. Other than to admit to backing Cthulhu.

But if we're playing chess, I think the stakes should be high:

For once I'm at Amir's level. Who is Ding and what does (s)he do?

Fabi and Ding were in Beach Blanket Bingo. The two surfer guys on the left.

I did not intend it to be so cryptic. My apologies.

FIDE Candidates Tournament is a chess tournament being played in Toronto, Canada right now. The winner of the tournament will later play against Ding Liren, current World Champion. Winner of that match will be crowned the FIDE World Chess Champion.

Fabiano Caruana is an American chess player, rated #2 in the World currently, and is favourite to win the tournament.

I learned to play chess with a guy that learned from his years in prison (ex-coke dealer.). He was tricky and knew a bunch of moves and processes or whatever they are called. I got good at playing him and have never played anybody since. I was playing on my cel tel and I found it made me aggressive.

I gave up Chess after losing in the minimum possible number of moves.

Chess + aggression = chess boxing

Just finished watching all the games of Round 2.

Round 1 was fun - all draws but with some fighting. Hikaru put up a nice fight.
Round 2 was amazing - 4 out of 4 decisive! Wow. Was not expecting that in round 2.

Indian kids are really good. Hard to tell which one is better. Anand must be proud.

Sorry to see Hikaru lose, and lose so badly. But that is good content, no?
Happy to see Caruana win as well.

I was expecting better from Ali Reza. Did Magnus curse him by elevating him over others?

Hot take : Who ever beats Hikaru on Candidates goes on to become the World Champion.
