The newest PMC actives (6, 6-2, 8-2) are... fine, I guess? Nothing particularly special, but not bad. The mid dome is quite something, apparently it can cross around 400 as a 2 incher and keep up with 2 8" woofers okay.

They do have the usual PMC "it's too bloody bright" syndrome - at least the 6-2 and 8-2 do, the 6 seems to be a bit flatter on-axis - but at least there's EQ on board that can shelve the highs down lol.

update:

Sound On Sound did some rudimentary measurements of the 6, it's... not terrible on axis. Vertical off axis has dips as you'd expect, and there's a TL interference dip around 300hz. Overall, not bad. I've certainly seen worse.

Heard the 6-2 in a recording studio , they were sounding very good and linear, not worth the price in my opinion

@sweetchaos Very nice effort. I will be paying attention to this thread.

Will it end up turning into an "every speaker ever made" spreadsheet?

I actually created such a spreadsheet last year and then got busy and realized it too much, so I abandoned it.

The only way I can see doing is, if we create a community-driven spreadsheet, with committed members that are contributing.

I don't get paid for this, so yeah...

Moving the first post to a spreadsheet is doable, without a lot of effort on my part.

But again, it will be ‘New Speakers’ spreadsheet.

Unlike my posted ‘All speakers’ spreadsheet that I abandoned.

If this is something of value, let me know.

Is there a way to know which Ascend Acoustic speakers were released in 2023?

I guess there's some posts on the Ascend forums, but it's sporadic.
