Took ownership of MiniDSP Flex a couple of years ago and love it.

Thinking of adding some extra monitors and wondering if the only way to do this is upgrade the MiniDSP to one with higher number of outputs.

I know that the functionality on the digital side of things would be difficult to extend, so I would be willing to sacrifice certain DSP controls, at least in the initial phases of experimentation.

If the 2 extra monitors are active, i.e. amplified, would one possibility be to split the XLR signal of L and R?

Are there other possible options?

You can connect a single Line out to multiple Line ins.
Naturally, those Line ins will all receive an identical signal.

If you need separate DSP control for each input device, then your only option is a DSP unit with more channels (Flex Eight/Flex HT/Flex HTx).
