What are some of your favorite movies that has music as an integral part of the movie? So integral that is almost, or is a MacGuffin.
I guess it doesn't have to get to MacGuffin level for it to be a great addition to the movie and well integrated.

A movie that immediately comes to mind for me, my inspiration for this thread, is Baby Driver. It's not only a great film, the music is a critical plot point to the main character as well expertly timed with the on scene action.

So, what other movies do you like that have great music well integrated into them?
I feel with the combination of music and movie/home theater lovers here you all have some good ones we can all enjoy watching.

I saw Ken Russell's "The Music Lovers" as a teenager - I went to see Glenda Jackson naked, and came away loving Tchaikovsky, which turned me on to classical music in general. There's a UK movie called "Brassed Off", about brass bands in a mining community - wonderful music. And "Manhunter", the original Hannibal Lecter movie, with a long, great chase scene set to Iron Butterfly's "Inna Gadda da Vida". That was certainly well integrated.

All movies directed by Sergio Leone and Giuseppe Tornatore.
Also movies directed by Pedro Almodóvar and Alfonso Cuarón Orozco.

They have among the best picture movie scores.

Just too many to mentioned, Google them (director's filmmographies); you'll recognize a bunch.

Nino Rota's works for Fellini

Here, a tribute to Rota's themes from Fellini's 8 1/2 arranged by Carla Bley

"Kitchen Stories" opens with a great number by Jan Johanssen

And of course there's one of my all time favorite movies, "Mr. Hulot's Holiday":

The score Clapton did for the movie Rush was excellent (as was Gregg Allman in the movie itself).
