Need Help on Hagerman VacuTrace

Just got one. Looks fine. Manual is really thin on detail, though. Not sure if this thing is working right or not. Powers up, and I can adjust anode voltage (if I use Hold mode, although the instructions say to use Sweep mode for that), but not Current or what they call Power. Manual says to make various initial set-up adjustments in the Sweep mode, but if you do that the screen is blank, so you can't see what you're adjusting. All controls seem to work except Current and Power. Not sure yet about Screen, as I have only tested a triode. The heaters light on the triode. The tracer does see my scope (although the trace is not correct yet), so there's that. Appreciate any help.
