Dedicated HT in our basement - 50/50 split between music listening (me/buddies) and movies (family). I'm the original owner of a Harman Kardon AVR-7200 that I've replaced with a lightly used Denon AVR-X4400H (better surround sound processing with the Denon).
The Denon serves as my AVR but I'd like to use the HK's amps to power my front stage (LCR speakers) as well as additional rear/height surrounds when I add more speakers (onboard amps support 9.1, Height 2 requires external amplification).
The Denon supports pre-outs and the HK supports direct inputs. Excerpt from the HK manual below followed by my quandary:
It seems I'd have to use the volume control on BOTH the Denon and the HK if I were to do this OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING?
I realize I can experiment but would love some input before taking a plunge and dealing with all the wiring fun (you know the drill).
Thanks in advance!
