"On a topic near and dear to myself—and many of you, a gentleman named Rick approached me on Sunday afternoon. He asked if I had been able to make it back to the Nordost demonstration. Unfortunately, I was tied up at my sales booth. Rick spent 18 years working as an electrical engineer at AT&T. This is a guy that knows much more than I do about electrical circuitry and audio signals. He did sit through the power demonstration in the Nordost room and told me that when the switched to the most expensive cable, they also switched the disc that they were playing. “They played the same piece of music, but from a different disc”, he said. He couldn’t imagine why they would do that.
Can anyone think of a reason why the presenter would swap out a disc for a different disc and play the same selection of music? Why not just start the track you just played over again after switching out the power cord…or whatever other cable was being compared? I find this very curious. It simply makes no sense…unless the second disc was not identical to the first."

More of the same; there's a guy who said something about something . . . Blah blah blah.
He needs to post real firsthand experience instead of this hearsay garbage. To me, it just sounds lazy. If he wanted, he could ask the person to post on his forum. That person is free to offer whatever opinion he wishes as long as he isn't lying about factual stuff.
If this hearsay assertion is true, it doesn't reflect well on Nordost. Why can't someone record a video clip of the Nordost demo? Maybe Peter Breuninger has a video somewhere on his website.

Is it possible to analyze the audio on the above video to determine if the level is switched with the cables? It sounds like it's the same track.

If the Nordost rep switched discs, then it's very bad news.
And like Michael said; if they have a video to prove it, the very bad news becomes 100% official.
Did Rick lied? I very doubt so; he has zero reason to lie...his reputation is on the line.

There appears to be Obvious Editing immediately after the 6 minute point in the presentation.
Maybe they are guilty.
The people in the room were certainly gushing like crows at a dumpster with a good fill.

Which makes it a good test candidate. The controversy hadn't yet erupted.
I'm not able to analyze the audio but I know there are others here who know how to do that and have the software to do it.
You get a gold star for that quip, I'll have it added to my notebook.

That second video could be used too. It was the same track played too. I didn't notice any video edit or cd switch outs. But he did say something about he needed to be reminded of the volume because it goes to "zero" after to powers it up again.
Come to think of it, I think it's downright odd that Mark Waldrep hasn't analyzed one of these videos like he did when he busted audioquest in their promo video. Surely, he knows about them, right? Weird.

He's busy at bat with Paul McGowan of PS Audio over the DSD vs PCM issue at present. LOL
Right or wrong I think he has to big a conflict of interest here to make criticism of Pauls ONE music sampler.
The "Do yourself a favor. Give it a listen" really should be left at that for both labels releases.

And I got some frozen frog legs in my freezer for tonight. I have to get them ready for room temperature.

How do you have your frog legs Bob? Plenty of butter and garlic and a little parsley to finish? Yum!
Watch out they don't reanimate and hope off though..it's a bummer when that happens... 1-0 frog.
