Thanks for the link. That gives an abstract-level description. What would be useful for me to know is the variables that were used in the multiple regression model and the coefficients associated with each. It looks like I can pay $33 to buy access to the paper, but before I go so far, does anyone know these things off hand?

Took a look at the AES paper abstract and this line caught my attention:

The premise of the CU model is that the sound power response of the loudspeaker should be flat, which we show is negatively correlated with preference rating. It is also based on 1/3-octave measurements that are shown to produce less accurate predictions of sound quality.

What is "sound power response?"

Floyd Toole in his books explains also soundpower, listening window, directivity etc. (not the formula though, just to avoid misunderstandings).

Just want to understand how the preference score weights different attributes of a speaker.

@kenshone This thread has the formula without reading the actual paper and doing the maths yourself, a long with some of the original hurdles in trying to implement it here =]
