Had the az5000es delivered today. My rz50 was acting up so I decided to try it out.
I can't believe I broke my own promise never to buy refurbished again, but, Amazon is so easy to deal with that I gave it a shot. I decided, if I like it, I'll return and get the az7000es when a deal shows up.
I hooked it up, wanted to check how it was sounding right out the box, everything sounded good, the 360ra sample was pretty cool, my speakers are not necessarily in an ideal location, but decent.
Now I just need to get this thing calibrated and yikes! The damn calibration mike was missing.....I could kick myself. Anyways, I could do enough to get a feel for it's potential and the 360ra is definitely impressive.
I had zero hiss, which was my main concern, plenty of power and I have other Sony's so I love and was familiar with the remote.
Again, the way the object based sound moves around was awesome, and to my ears more detailed and discernible than my current dolby Atmos. Music in 360 through Chromecast with Tidal worked 100% as advertised...they have some decent playlists available for this format.
At least now I know what to expect if I decide to get the unit.....the sr8015 is on sale on Amazon for $2k.... anyone have this unit and feel the correction software is somewhat close to Dirac live?
My rz50 seems to work decent, it sounds really good, but it still is iffy with the HDMI handling...I believe the last firmware update did rectify it to a degree, but I still want to upgrade.
Anyways, pissed as usual about making a decision to go refurbished but I did get something out of it, so, I move on.
