I really loved the organic, curvy shape of these speakers. Notice the driver cones: they are made out of wood! They put some kind of lacquer on it to keep it stable after manufacturing.
Breaking News: I've been threatening to biwire my speakers again, all this show coverage must have gotten to me, need something new and shiny here, so I am in the construction stage right now.
Could be the way they set up the demo for these speakers. I had exactly the same reaction when I heard them in Sydney, using a DAC that in another room was doing a fine job ...
This is something I have often observed in the SET-driving-Single driver crowd. Flat (not in the sense of linear), midrange-oriented to the extent of not reproducing much else ... Editorialized reproduction.
