Yes, there may be two different frequency response curves out there for the cartridge with one more downward sloping. But I don't think it is what they say there exactly. Plenty of proof that fully flat ones exist as I show. Perhaps there was a change in the manufacturing process at some point. Or perhaps it points to suspension issues. In the case of the ones you mention test record warp could be to blame for some of what they saw.The V15VMR was according to them, either flat to 10kHz with 5dB dive to 20kHz, or a straight downtilt of 5dB from 1kHz to 20kHz.
I will be testing 8 different VN5MR styli to see if there is something more conclusive to be said about this. But not for a long while so don't hold your breath for it. I compared 6 or so in the MC MM MI thread and believe I saw both patterns.
