Hmmm... That may mean that theres some kind of USB bus reset or some kind of device initialization coming out of hibernation mode that doesn't happen when coming out of sleep.

That is a Windows thing: during hibernation power is cut off completely, not so in sleep mode. ;)

I've put my computer into no-sleep mode -- just blank the screen after a while. Since it will use more power, I may convert it over to run on coal and see if I can get the current administration to give me some kind of subsidy.

I believe you can count on subsidy only if you use wind power or some other "clean" alternative. I would also suggest avoiding Pornhub and similar sites as they may check your browsing habits before giving you a subsidy. As with music, storing porn on NAS is safe and economic solution. :D

But I was referring to this:
"However if i put my laptop in hibernation mode no problems what so ever it starts up fine with or without powered USB HUB."

So even though the D10 retained power through hibernation (due to the powered hub), the PC was able to bring it back to life.

Only God and Microsoft developers know how Windows restore USB sessions during hibernation vs sleep. Actually, I'm not so sure about God.

Set my iMac Pro to not sleep when the screen is off and got up this morning and saw that the Topping D10 was still working fine, providing further evidence that the problem is related to sleep.

Sounds like your PC is shutting of USB port power when it sleeps, which, as you know, means that the D10 powers up anew when the computer wakes up.

I send a couple of emails to them yesterday asking for just that. I was hoping to find the firmware in my inbox this morning, but, alas, no.

Thanks for providing another data point. As Krunok pointed out, some computers remove power from USB ports when they are sleeping, but my two desktop systems (iMac Pro and PC) I tried it on do not. I would expect a laptop to be much more likely to shut off USB power to keep from draining the battery by powering some USB device. When your Thinkpad X230 goes to sleep, does your Topping D10 shut off (display goes totally blank)? If so, that's probably why you don't see the problem.

My old firmware may have had this issue, too, and maybe my system didn't go into sleep while it was on there. I've only had the D10 for a few days. If you could email [email protected] and tell them that you are also experiencing problems with the D10 not coming back after sleep, that would be a big help.
Thank you for performing that test. That's what I expected (p.s. for some reason, when you quoted me above, it doesn't show up as a quote -- looks like it's something you wrote).

But does the display go black when your laptop goes to sleep? That's what tells us whether the power is removed from the USB port.
No bottom right you see still a faint pointer (still after 1 1/2 hour)

There. Fixed it for you

Interesting. So plugged directly into your laptop, it recovers and plays audio when you wake the laptop up, even though sleep leaves the USB ports powered. That's interesting. Thanks.

It It looks Like coming out of sleeping mode my powerd USB Hub provides electricity for devices Like a mouse but not enough for the D10. I even repeated the test by changing the usb mouse port for the D10 port same result mouse came alive D10 not but it has some power noticing the faint pointer is still on.

Fred, solution to your problem with D10 costs only $50. I also started using D10 with my windows 10 laptop but after a few days I noticed not only that it doesn't behave well but also that Pornhub started to load slowly and there were glitches when playing videos. Next day I purchased RPI, installed Volumio and life again was beautiful. :D

I already have Volumio running on a Rasberry Pi. It's in my AV room.

So you're suggesting that I give up at having music at my computer. Just come downstairs to use my web browser to select tracks to play and then run up two flights of stairs to the second floor of my house to listen to the music? If my phone rings, run down the stairs to push pause through the web browser and then run to a phone? And I get the benefit of a dog-slow interface compared to directly browsing music on the local hard drive on my computer!

Isn't your Raspberry on the same network as you computer?

The other advantage would be the audio from your pornhub clips playing upstairs as you peruse from the privacy of your basement.

Heh, that only works in theory - you're not married, right? :D

No metter how deep is your basement there's no privacy there when you're married. :p
