I just gave my modi 3 to my 15 yo daughter, along with a SYS and two mono class D amps. A nice little upgrade for a budding audiophile. :)
I would say you're putting her on a great path at such a young age! My setup didn't even look like that at 36 lol

Are you guys using AV receiver to use your wiim or using integrated amp? Reason I’m asking because I’m not sure if the analog input get digitalize and that would defeat the external dac.
I have used with my Onkyo TX-8270 with Toslink. Worked like a charm. Now I have it trough the Topping E30 for switching between USB (RPI with RopieeXL), Toslink (Wiim) and Coaxial (ifi Zen Blue).

Do you know if the analog input of onkyo get digitalize? It defeat the purpose of external dac if input get digitalize.

I'll check over the weekend what the WIIM does with Airpulse A300pro, which uses the same Kleernet technology.
For a standard, I have the unit connected to a balanced DAC that feeds the balanced inputs of the speakers separately, which works remarkably well.
Today, I checked the Airpulse A300 pro in wireless mode (kleernet), optical input

a) test signal via WIIM
16/48. and 24/48 - if you start with one of these settings, everything works flawlessly until you switch the output rate to 24/96 or 192,
than crackling high pitched noise on the right (main) speaker, left speaker plays sans probleme, but very bad pops sound when quitting on the main.
No return to lower bitrate via App possible - restart of speaker necessary.

When you start with WIIM settings on 24/96 or 192 settings, no content above 24/48 is played at all. However: no noise/plop

b) via local library/streaming, if starting with 24/48 setting:
16/44-24/192 content - no noticable problem for all rates playing, however, changing setting creates the problem with the A300 pro until you reset the speaker.

On saturday, I played local 24/192 files on the Airpulse A80 actives without problems, having the 24/192 settings on the WIIM still active.
afaik: downsampled to 24/96 internally, amplified and output via speaker connection to slave

You didn't use WiiM at all at point b) ?

Edit: no question, now I see you've meant test signal at a) and music at b), both via WiiM.

Did you also try with 16 bit depth and high bitrates?

I got my Wiim Mini today. Configured with no issues. Selected 24/192 as max output but got no sound when doing the test in the app via Android phone. I have a Schiit Bifrost 2 DAC that I'm using through Optical.

Selecting Qobuz with a max output of 24/192 also gives me no sound out. 24/96 works just fine. According to Schiit's webiste, the Bifrost is capable of 24/192 through all inputs, coax, optical and usb.

I have unplugged the Wiim to reset, changed optical cables, played around with the configuration but I'm just not able to make it work with 24/192.

Can anyone suggest anything? I would appreciate your help guys!
Toslink is buggy once you try and go above 24/96, my Arcam with built in ESS Sabre DAC will only go to 24/96 via Toslink, 24/192 requires Digital Coax.

It's a very common issue with Toslink, wouldn't hold it against the Wiim mini, just wish they would have also included a dig coax out also.

They've talked about a "pro" version, which I expect would have a bunch of nice features like coax out. Once they get the firmware bugs ironed out, and a better app, they can hopefully work on this.

WiiM app just updated on android to ver 1.3.8.220722.b188ae. Still displaying silly bitrates for AMHD though :(

I wouldn't call it buggy. It's just close to the spdif bandwidth over toslink with 24/192 and not every equipment can handle it. Personally I have no issues connecting WiiM at max rate to my old Styleaudio Ruby2 even with toslink switcher inbetween.

I would most certainly buy one, for $89 dollars the Wiim mini has exceeded my expectations, My only ask at this point is adding Sirius XM and Pandora radio.

Yeah I did. Looks like they have a lot of tickets - mine is 400 up from my last one a couple of weeks back, now #2222
They did fix bitrate / SQ indication positioning in the app GUI, the way I suggested. Submitted it via the usual app feedback option just a few days ago as a feature request / suggestion, not a bug report really. Looks like they are fulfilling the most easy to do requests first. Cannot blame them for the strategy, frankly, I do the same while being overwhelmed by bug reports and behind the schedule.
